About Romy B

My journey as a musician was seeded in storytelling through song as a child, winning my first songwriting competition at 14 and performing regularly soon after. At 16, I left school to study music full time. I immersed myself in musical environments, eventually gigging full-time.

Life took me on unexpected paths—from solo traveling in Europe to working as a production roadie for major acts like Dua Lipa and Coldplay. In 2024, I reconnected with my artistry, drawing inspiration from ’60s and ’70s music, performing weekly, and focusing on my original work.

At 22, I’m excited to share what’s been brewing and see where this journey leads. Thank you for your support—stay tuned for what’s next!

The History...

My journey as a singer-songwriter began long before studying music or being revolved around music industry professionals.

At 6 years old I remember asking my Dad for a guitar for my birthday. I didn’t know anything better than to pick my favourite colour. RED.

I latched onto a passion for storytelling through song early on. At 10 years old I remember creating a word doc with pictures around it, for my song ‘Our Lives Destiny’ and ‘Special Stars’.

At 14 years old is when I was recognised for my songwriting as I won the Fairbridge Songwriting competition, and various school music awards. I started writing and performing gradually a lot more.

Throughout all this time, I was actually struggling at high school with my social life and learning. I spent most school breaks in music rooms, learning new instruments including drums, piano and bass guitar.

I found myself leaving high school to study & pursue my artistry, being admitted into WAAPA at the age of 16. It was the first time I could really live everyday in my musical element, and I made like-minded friends! I decided after an amazing year there, to focus on gigging as my full time job. I was performing roughly 4 times a week.

When I turned 18, I got my drivers license in the same week. Meaning I could finally drive myself to all my own gigs up and down the coast. AND also go see live gigs!

At age 20, I left everything I had been working on, and solo travelled in Europe for 6 months. Over that time, I instead found myself pursuing ‘downhill skateboarding’ with a bunch of crazy like-minded adrenaline junkies, among other cool hobbies.

I didn’t really announce my return to Perth to anyone. Feeling out of touch, I got into working as a ‘production roadie’ for touring acts, instead of pursuing my music. Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, P!nk, Coldplay, KISS, Goo Goo Dolls to name a few.

I spent 2024 asking myself who am I as an artist? I honed in on my craft like never before, gaining a chunk of inspiration from 60’s & 70’s music, performing weekly again and shying away from roadie work.

I’m writing all this age 22, on this new website, that exists to simply support me however possible in this unique journey.
I look forward to what life will organically bring in these coming years! As I work on getting my original music off the ground, to the right folks.
I can’t wait to share all that’s been deep in the works with you!

THANK YOU FOR READING AND FOR YOUR SUPPORT. Stay tuned :))
